Just Begin

I’m not sure if anyone else needs this reminder, but I know I do. We all have goals and (big) dreams—whether we feel confident enough to admit it or not. Those secret desires in the back of our minds that we hope to achieve one day.

But often, we don’t talk about them because they feel laughably unattainable. We see others achieving those dreams, and it seems natural for them—but not for us. It’s easy to believe we can’t, simply because “that’s just not who we are.”

These goals can be as big as starting a new career, that business, or as small as sharing a hidden passion. For me, it’s this! The idea of putting my words and vulnerable thoughts out there for other people to read feels daunting. This is how the inside of my brain looks: I see other like-minded people have blogs, and I LOVE reading those blogs, but they’re known as writers, so of course they have a blog. I’m not known for writing; no one really even knows I even like to write, so why would I have a blog?

I read something recently that altered my brain: “You are not having imposter syndrome. You are just a beginner.”

Everyone who’s ever achieved anything had to start somewhere!!!!! They probably didn’t (definitely didn’t) feel ready either. I know I didn’t (don’t). I’ve been telling myself for years that I wanted to start a blog. Yearsssss. Each January, I write it down as one of my New Year’s resolutions.I even made one once, then ended up quickly deleted it.

If the worst thing that happens is people talking about you starting a blog, then girl, there are far bigger issues in life. Plus, chances are you’ll never even know what they said—so ignorance is bliss!

If the most embarrassing thing that could happen is people seeing you try, then just do it. What if something really cool comes out of it??? Stop letting insecurities hold you back from pursuiing your passions and just begin.

Everyone starts somewhere.
